In December 2005, the CIFO Art Space opened its doors with the first two exhibitions that focused on different aspects of the Ella Fontanals-Cisneros Collection.  Since then, the foundation has continued its unwavering commitment to the diversity of its cultural surroundings.

Our yearly calendar includes two main exhibitions: our Grants and Commissions Program exhibition, and an exhibition drawn from the Ella Fontanals Cisneros Collection which is organized with the collaboration of guest curators from around the world. In addition, CIFO offers an exciting program of conferences, lectures, performances, and concerts.

The Grants and Commissions Program replaces the Residency Program with which CIFO initiated its activities as a foundation in 2004. Each year, cifo exhibits the unique, diverse, and challenging work of artists from Latin America (working both in their respective countries and abroad), in an effort to promote their work in Miami and across the United States.

CIFO is committed to broadening the global understanding of work by contemporary artists from Latin America, and moving beyond the traditional paradigms and stereotypes associated with Latin American art.
