Mariana Castillo Deball, "Estas ruinas que ves," 2006 The Foundation offers a Grants and Commissions Program to emerging and mid-career contemporary artists from Latin America worldwide. Both programs are by invitation only. Our Advisory Committee will propose a dynamic and broad-ranging representation of multidisciplinary artists from Latin America working today, from which nominees will be selected.
The aim of cifo’s Grants and Commissions Program is to promote the production of contemporary visual art by artists from Latin America. The Selection Committee, while closely reviewing all nominated artists, will consider the existence of a coherent discourse, engaging concepts, and formal resolutions; how each of these elements is expressed in the project submitted; and how they relate within the context of the artist’s chosen discipline. The Board of Directors ratifies the final selection. Each year, ten emerging artists from Latin America are awarded a grant, and participate in a group show at cifo. In addition, the work of two mid-career artists will be showcased in an exhibition produced by cifo’s Commissions Program every year. Catalogs will be published to accompany these exhibitions.
