Emerging Artist Award

 

Paloma Contreras Lomas (b. 1991) began her artistic training in the career of Visual Arts at the La Esmeralda National School of Painting, Sculpture and Engraving (2011-2015). In 2016 she joined the multidisciplinary collective Biquini Wax EPS and entered the educational program SOMA, where she remained until 2018.

 

She is an accredited swimmer in the Latin American subcritical studies group Los Yacusi, with whom she has performed different curatorships in a promiscuous role of artist-curator, as well as coordinator of the Sierra Hermosa Community Museum, a project located in the Zacatecan desert.

 

The work of Contreras Lomas extends to different media such as video, writing, drawing and performance, as well as collective production parallel to her personal research. Her work has been shown in places such as Palais de Tokyo, FRAC Center Orléans, Museum of Modern Art (MAM), Antonio López Sáenz Contemporary Art Gallery, among others. She currently plans the creation of the Spiritual Nation and Horror as a genre of artistic production.
