Emerging Artist Award
Rolando López (b. 1978) is an artist with a bachelor’s degree in graphic design and a Master in social sciences from the Autonomous University of Aguascalientes. In 2017 he won the award granted by the KADIST (Artist Circle Award/Summer) aimed at young promises of contemporary art. He has made artistic production residencies in the École Européenne Supérieure de l'image (EESI), Angouleme, France, and in Artpace, San Antonio, Texas, USA (2017).
From 2014 to date, he has developed the project Museum Guggenheim Aguascalientes, within which he has played several facets as an artist, historian, anthropologist, coordinator, curator, researcher, inventor and museographer. This project has been exhibited in Mexico City (2015), Querétaro (2016), San Antonio, Texas, USA and at the XLVI International Festival Cervantino, Guanajuato, Mexico (2018).
He has participated in several collective and individual exhibitions, as well as in sound art events, such as the Festival Aural, 2016. He is a graduate of the first generation of the educational Project SOMA (México City, 2013) and holds a state scholarship (2011-2013) and a national scholarship (2007-2012) for the development of culture and the arts in the area of visual arts (alternative media).
