Elvis Fuentes
Elvis Fuentes served as Associate Curator at El Museo del Barrio (NY) from 2006-2012. He studied Art History at the University of Havana, Cuba, and upon graduating in 1999, worked as a curator at the Ludwig Foundation of Cuba. In 2006, Fuentes won the Grand Prix of the Ljubljana Print Biennial with the curatorial project, Print as Metaphor. Fuentes’ 2012 exhibition, Caribbean: Art at the Crossroads of the World, opened at three New York institutions and was hailed by the New York Times as “the big art event of the summer season in New York.” The exhibition traveled to the Perez Art Museum Miami in 2014. He co-edited, along with Deborah Cullen, the companion book which was published by Yale University Press. Currently, Fuentes is pursuing a PhD in Art History at Rutgers University, New Jersey.
